The ONLY Telephoto Prime Lens I Travel With as a Fujifilm User
If you haven't caught my latest YouTube video, you might have missed my indispensable travel companion: the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 lens. It's been by my side for over a year now, and it continues to exceed my expectations.
This lens, with its 56mm focal length and wide f/1.4 aperture, is perfect for capturing crisp telephoto shots. Its lightweight, compact design makes it a dream to travel with, especially when paired with my Fujifilm XH2s for its stabilisation or X Pro 3 for street photography. Plus, it seamlessly integrates with Fuji bodies, adding to their aesthetic appeal.
During a trip to Brighton, this lens proved its worth, delivering outstanding results in both photography and videography. It was a relief to find a small, compact telephoto option, especially when compared to the bulky Fujifilm 56mm f/1.2, which was not only expensive but also less portable.
While this lens has many strengths, it's not without its drawbacks. I wish it had an aperture ring, but I've learned to adapt by using the front or back dial. Additionally, its autofocus can occasionally miss, unlike the Fuji 56mm, which reportedly has more reliable autofocus.
Despite these minor flaws, I've been consistently impressed by this lens. It has become a staple in my gear bag, accompanying me on every trip, large or small. Its sharpness, clarity, and low-light performance make it suitable for any shooting conditions. And considering its price, it's truly a bargain, especially if you can find it in good condition secondhand.
