At the start of 2024, I committed to my dream of traveling the world with my camera. Now, as the year wraps up, I’m proud to say that photography has become my career. Here are ten practical steps to kickstart your journey as a travel photographer:

You don’t need to spend thousands traveling to exotic locations to build your portfolio. Start small and explore nearby cities or regions. If you’re in the UK, visit cities like London, Manchester, or Bristol. Budget airlines like Ryanair make affordable weekend trips possible, allowing you to build your portfolio without breaking the bank.
2. Gear Up
Invest in gear that works for you and inspires creativity. Ensure your camera or bag has weather sealing—a must for unpredictable conditions. The right gear not only enhances your photography but also makes your workflow smoother and more enjoyable.
