I Sold My Fujifilm X-S20 (Follow Up To My Video)

In this blog post, I'm taking a closer look at my decision to part ways with my X-S20, a topic I previously discussed in my YouTube video titled "I'm Selling My X-S20 - Here's Why!"

Fujifilm X-S20

The crux of the matter lies in the preparations for an upcoming trip, where the need to downsize my gear and free up some much needed money became apparent. Regrettably, the X-S20 didn't quite fit the bill for these requirements.

One of the major factors influencing my decision was the camera's tendency to overheat, a concern amplified by the knowledge that I'd be venturing into a considerably warmer climate than the temperate conditions of England. Reliability was paramount for capturing those priceless moments during my travels, leading me to lean on my more dependable XH2s and X Pro 3 cameras.

Despite my fond memories of the X-S20, having accompanied me on numerous adventures over a span of six months, practical considerations eventually took precedence. While its compact form factor and impressive specifications made it an ideal companion for exploring Europe, practical drawbacks began to surface, particularly during trips to destinations like Ireland. Here, the absence of weather sealing became a notable limitation, highlighting the need for a camera better equipped to handle diverse environmental conditions. Although pairing the X-S20 with a weather-resistant lens offered some degree of protection, my preferred kit lens lacked this crucial feature, adding to my concerns.

Nevertheless, it's essential to acknowledge the X-S20's strengths – it undeniably offers exceptional value for money and remains a top contender in its class. There's even a possibility that I may reacquaint myself with it upon my return to the UK. However, for the time being, we've decided to part ways. My approach to camera gear remains pragmatic and impartial, with no strong allegiance to any particular brand, though Fujifilm seem to be my preferred choice at the moment. Ultimately, the goal is to find the tools that best facilitate the realisation of ones artistic vision, irrespective of brand loyalty or sentimentality.
